A BIT MORE
ABOUT ME
Stories are what make us humans, making storytellers the bearers of our humanity. As Designers, we are the modern storytellers. The experiences we create are a journey through which our users will go, they're the stories we're telling them and I constantly strive to build the best of them.

PART 01 -
THE PERSON
1998
2016
2022
After my first year of professional experience and with the situation in Lebanon worsening, I took some time to take care of my family and ensure everything was relatively manageable before focusing back again on my work.
In the meantime, I've completed several short contracts for different clients, amongst which an NGO that focuses on French aviation history and with which I continue to collaborate to ensure this part of our history doesn't get forgotten. From events scheduling and designing, to stand design and visual supports, I'm fortunate enough to put many of my practical and design skills to good use.
When I learnt of a place where I'd be thought to create those same video games I spent hours analyzing and enjoying, I was sold on the idea. And so, I left my country in 2016 to pursue a Bachelors' Degree in Game Design at Rubika, one of the best schools in the domain. Three years later, the school opened up a new section, Interaction Design. I saw it almost like "Game Design but in real life".
I applied to join the new program and, given my good performance during my Bachelor's Degree, I got accepted. The great thing about it was that I could fully utilize and build upon my interest for psychology, neuroscience and cognitive behaviors.
I'm Nicolas Bekhazi, a 24 year-old, Freelance UX | UI | IX Designer based in Valenciennes up in the cold and cloudy northern part of France.
I was born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon and attended a Jesuit school from where I graduated with honors. From 2004 up until 2014 I was swimming professionally, training for more than 20 hours every week to achieve my goal: winning an international competition. After more than 150 national gold medals, I finally got my chance at 2013's Asian Spring Championship in Qatar during which I won the 200m Butterfly and secured a 2nd place in the 100m Butterfly.
Growing up, I was a curious little boy, constantly reading, drawing and learning about new stuff, with a particular interest for space, planes and everything military. My interest in those domains grew over the years to become sort of an obsession, and video games only served to reinforce it. My dream was to one day work with the army to send astronaut-soldiers to other planets and conquer the stars. And through games, I found a way to realize that dream.

PART 02 -
THE DESIGNER
02/02

Swimming professionally taught me to be a very thorough and resilient worker. Regardless of the project, I always try to push the boundaries and think through every detail. They say the devil is in the detail, but they forget to mention that I'm right there with him.
RESILIENCE
I believe that one never truly stops to learn and that ego is the worst enemy of progress. If I make a mistake, I'm more than happy to correct it and take responsibility. On the other hand, I try to keep everything organized and make sure to finish everything in time.
WORK ETHICS
My work made me into a jack of all trades so to speak. I've learned that for a team to work efficiently, every member needs to be aware of how the others work and, as such, I make a point to take the time and learn the basics of every role. If we speak the same language, we'll work much better together.
ABILITIES
Discussion is the root of creativity but it must be paired with strong leadership and a clear direction to avoid losing focus. Working methodically and thoroughly is a sure way to achieve the team's goals. Thus, I always base my work on strong and proven methods that allow me to reliably hit my targets.
METHODOLOGY
Being able to take a step back from a situation and look at the bigger picture allowed me to steer some projects away from crashing. Throughout the fields in which I worked, I try to always approach things from multiple different angles, looking at them through the psychological lenses, the cognitive ones, the cultural ones, etc...
APPROACH
Regardless of the project I'm assigned to, I always give it 110% and, through thick and thin, I try to keep a smile on. Happy workers are hard workers and if I can help in achieving this happiness, I will gladly participate. I look at every project as if it were a new story to write and strive to create the best of them.
